After 30 years of the community loving it to death, Old Town Square was due for an upgrade.
The beloved square was suffering from aging infrastructure that could not keep up with current demand. With the need for utility improvements came the opportunity to also refresh the appearance and functionality of the space. The most critical aspect of the renovation effort for the our design team was to maintain the intimate feeling of the square. The input received from an extensive stakeholder outreach process informed our detailed project program and subsequent schematic design and construction documents.
An existing iconic fountain was updated and a new water feature was added. Our team also designed a stage to host Fort Collins’ many outdoor concerts. The redesigned Old Town Square is a more unified space that can host large gatherings. Our design efforts successfully revitalized the heart of the community while maintaining the essence of the place that people have always cherished.
