Thoughtful and intentional site design allows users of varying abilities to enjoy the outdoors within the newly developed Orchards Senior Housing.
The project site was designed for senior users in consideration of safety, provision of cognitive and visual cues, and addressing residents of varying physical abilities. Smooth transitions allow for an experience that easily transitions between areas while providing focal points for orientation. The walking loop path allows for exercise and circulation around the site, while other amenities such as an outdoor lounge are placed near building accesses.
The site features a robust planting pallet including brightly colored perennials and over 1.5-acres of native plantings that can be observed by those with limited mobility from within the facility.
